Repurpose the outer bags of canadian milk bags

Hi Everyone,

It’s been a couple of months since my last newsletter…. I have not forgotten you.

We ended 2025 by donating a total of 4740 mats delivered to people around the world who were in need of something soft to sleep on. Since we started the project in 2008, we have delivered a grand total of 70 981 mats and have saved over 40 million milk bags from going into landfills.

So far this year, we have given away 172 mats. It’s a great start.I know that many of you were using the “new but reject” bags from the manufacturer.

We are now having to collect bags from our community in order to continue making the mats. One suggestion: when you ask people for bags, please ask them to donate them dry and flat. This way, the people who prepare the bags can start right away without having to flatten them.

If anyone is interested, I have a very nice, light-weight 6-loop frame to donate. Please email me if you would like to have it.

At this time, I want to mention the passing for very special lady who made hundreds of mats and who also loaded up her vehicle to make deliveries to Canadian Food for Children. Wendy joined the mat-making team at the very beginning when I started the project inn 2008. She passed away peacefully a couple of nights ago. I often think of her and all she did to help our project.
On behalf of the Milk Bag Team, we offer our deepest condolences. Rest in Peace, Wendy.

Thank you for all your dedication to helping others. I will keep you updated as things progress.

Enjoy your weaving,
Angela
