We Started it in 2008…you keep it going!

We are still at it!

Greetings to everyone as this year comes to a close. I am grateful to all of you who read these newsletters and for your positive feedback, telling me about your milk bag adventures and sharing your lovely stories.

From young to retired everyone can weave!

There are over 500 email addresses to recipients who receive our newsletters. We are all connected by each loop we weave or crochet into the precious mats that are gratefully received by people who need a touch from your helping hand.

This year, we have sent 5620 mats to people in need. Since Milk Bags Unlimited came to be in 2008 we have sent over 66,241 mats around the world, and have saved more than 37 million milk bags from being thrown into our landfills. We have upcycled something that we think of as garbage into something precious.

Better than cardboard!

Greetings to you as this year ends. I am grateful to all of you who read these newsletters and for your positive feedback, telling me about your milk bag adventures and sharing your lovely stories.

We teach people how make money by crocheting bags to sell at the market!
We sell bags at events to buy supplies and cover expenses!

I want to thank Dr. Andrew Simone and the volunteers at Canadian Food for Children,  who have been so gracious to include our mats in their overseas shipments. CFFC sends a container every weekday of food, medicines, clothing, blankets, bicycles, seeds, small appliances and furniture, our mats  and so many other things that people need to give them necessary life support and supplies.

My milk bag partner Bettina, my friend, webmaster and computer buddy, will continue answering your emails and giving you the monthly updates you have come to appreciate.  You may feel isolated, but you are not, we are all connected with other people and groups that make the mats. If you want to share your stories and pictures, send them to me, and with your permission, I will include them in newsletters so others can see and read what you are doing. Every day, we receive inquiries from all over Canada  about bags drop off locations, please let us know if you or someone you know will take some.

Bettina and I would like to wish you a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy Kwanza… from far and wide, to close to home, blessings to all of you and a very Happy New Year.
