April 2016 Greece, Zambia, Burkina Faso

A few weeks ago, we were contacted by this lovely lady named Philippa ,who  asked for mats to be sent to the refugees in Greece. She made the effort and raised  the funds needed to pay for their transport, she also received financial cooperation from Air Canada..The company does have heart!.

A shipment of mats is now  about to leave for Athens where it will be pick up  and distributed to the refugees by the Salvation Army. This may be one of many!

Refugees and migrants wait in queue to receive food distributed by non-governmental organization at a refugee camp at the Greek-Macedonian border, near the northern Greek village of Idomeni, Thursday, March 3, 2016. At least 10,000 men, women and children have been camped for days in pathetic conditions at the Idomeni border crossing with Macedonia. (AP Photo/Eldar Emric)

The  easy to follow step by step” HOW TO”  videos have proven to be a great help, there is no need to physically travel and teach the weaving and handbag making methods . This is why more and more countries are coming on board with our project.

A shipment of milk bags to be made into mats for hospitals and prisons is being made ready for Zambia. The great news is that the local group wants to make the mats over there …this is great!

We are still waiting to hear if the government of  Burkina Faso will allow the importation of the milk bags: there is also a group who wants to weave them themselves.
