I want to take this opportunity to let you know how things have gone in 2013. With your help and interest and encouraging emails we have accomplished much in 2013. Last year we sent 329 mats to people in need around the world; so this year, considering the new people who are on board with the project, my goal was 400 mats. When the weaving started, we really bumped up our efforts. I am happy to tell you that we have sent 697 mats to the depot this year. I don’t think there will be another shipment from my house before the end of the year, so this is why I’m telling you the number now.
I also want to thank the men and women in Moncton, N. B. who are making mats. When I was there in October, I came back with my van filled with their mats. Included in the 697 mats was 105 from them. Thank you to all the people in Moncton who are working hard too.
As a side note, I don’t always know to which country the mats are going. When they pack the containers at the depot, they put in mats as to how much room they have left after filling them with food and other supplies. However, a few weeks back I was told that a shipment was going to the Philippines; thank you for your help, because in that one week we managed to send 80 mats to that country.
Thank you so much for all your help in this fantastic project. As one teenager said to me… ” I can’t think of a single reason not to like this project” … he was right, from being environmental, to humanitarian, it is all good.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy 2014.
Hopefully we can continue to make mats … so what should our goal be for next year???
Blessings to you all,
