October 2016 Around the world

The senior residents at the Henley Place in London have been busy weaving mats. We thank them very much for their contribution.

I also went to pick up mats made by the group lead by Mario So Gao at the Immigrant Youth Center in Markham. We are grateful to have those amazing young people on board.

Carol from Elliott Lake brought down 24 mats as she came to visit her daughter in Oakville. She even brought a frame  so that she can teach mat weaving while she is there!   There are so many people to thank it would take pages to list you all.

Here is the mountain of mats made by Girl Guides! 11 mats in 2 hours on 7 looms by 36 girls in  one evening.

We are approaching 5000 mats for the year!!!! This is only counting the ones that we know of  for sure; large amounts from Eastern and Western Ontario have not even been counted.

As the cooler weather approaches, more and more schools are getting into weaving; this is keeping Angela busy with appearances and coaching days.

COMING SOON : keep your eyes open for 2 new web pages: CONTACTS & MEDIA.

Every once in a while we receive pictures of the mats that you made; here is a small selection showing  children with their new mats:
