Hope you are all well and are looking forward to warmer days in April.
I wanted to send you a note to let you know how things are going with regards to the milk bag project. Since January, we have sent over 1400 mats to Canadian Food for Children. I am so amazed at the work we all do as we work away like a small underground movement.
April is Earth Month, so as usual, I will be having milk bag weaving events at many schools. I am also getting ready for going to Nicaragua on April 28 for 2 weeks to help the women and children there to make mats. Due to this month being very busy, I will not be having a “pick up your bags day.” However, if you are in need of bags, by all means let me know and I will leave them outside my garage for you to get on the day you request them. If you have mats to drop off, please don’t hesitate to leave them in front of my garage and I will get them and send them off with one of the generous volunteers who drive the mats to Canadian Food for Children.
I will leave you with a nice story and a good quote. If you have never delivered mats to the depot.. this is what you may experience: Nancy from Stouffville wrote this:
While the young guys were unloading our car, I was asking to where would these 2 containers be going? His response, one to Liberia and one to El Salvador. but, he went on to say, “You know, everyone wants the mats. They repel bugs, and they can be washed, they last about 20 years.” In my mind I am thrilled to hear that “everyone wants them” but I am usually the one saying the mats are great for the following reasons!! It was a short but meaningful conversation! Very quickly we were on our way home again… I will say, we were full of Thanksgiving to God for being involved in this project. May God Bless your day.. Nancy.
Then a quote from Sandra in Ottawa:
You have not lived a perfect day
unless you have done something
for someone who will never
be able to repay you. (written by Ruth Smeltzer)
I get emails like this all the time and since it thrills my soul, I thought I would share some “good” thoughts with you.
Blessings to all of you,
